International Medical Corps is a global, humanitarian, nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and relief and development programs.

By offering training and health care to local populations and medical assistance to people at highest risk, and with the flexibility to respond rapidly to emergency situations, International Medical Corps rehabilitates devastated health care systems and helps bring them back to self-reliance.


As a part of the current capacity building program for IMC Turkey, IMC is currently seeking a specialist/trainer in Project Cycle Management to provide a two-day training for service providers of the IMC implementing partners, in order to strengthen the humanitarian response capacity of the organizations. The training will take place both in Ankara and/or Istanbul, and will strengthen the capacity of staff working directly and indirectly with the most vulnerable beneficiaries receiving support..

Start Date: 3 August 2018
Duration: 4 Working Days
Work Place: Ankara and/or Istanbul
Overall Responsibilities: ·         Work with IMC Program Coordinator, IMC Sub Grants Manager and Program Officer to understand the IMC Partner’s learning needs

·         Develop and deliver a 2-day training to approximately two separate groups of participants from IMC Turkey Partners on PCM

·         Produce a post-training report including all materials used and any significant findings/outcomes from the training


  1. Core Responsibilities
    • Preparation
  • Liaising and meeting with the IMC Turkey Programs team to finalize the agenda and review logistics
  • Preparing and reviewing session plans, including all necessary PowerPoint files and hand-outs.
  • Submitting the training agenda and session plans to IMC Turkey Programs team one week prior to the training.
    • Delivery

Throughout this period, the quality and maintenance of the learning environment is a main responsibility of the lead facilitator. This includes:

  • Timely and professional delivery of activities
  • Assess the pre-training capacity of trainees to ensure learning is applicable to organisational level and needs
  • Facilitating a course that meets participants’ expectations
  • Challenging participants and establishing an ethic of professionalism, fun and quality improvement
  • Daily debriefing with the IMC Program team

Prepare and deliver an interactive curriculum rich in practical examples, role plays and learning by doing, inclusive of:

  • Principles of PCM and donors’ approaches to PCM
  • Baseline Analysis including how to conduct Needs Assessments
  • Stakeholders Analysis, including the primary target group and the final beneficiaries
  • Formulate project indicators in logical frame format
  • Introduce Tools to such as Work Plan, Gantt Chart and Budget
  • Elaborate on the concept of progress and financial reporting, the reporting rules and requirements


  • Reporting

Following the delivery of the training, production of report, inclusive of:

  • All materials used in the delivery of the training (guidance notes, activities, worksheets, presentations, etc.)
  • Significant findings/outcomes resulting from the training and recommendations
  • Feedback from participants (forms to be completed by participants; evaluation thereof to be completed by the IMC Turkey Sub Grant Manager)

The consultancy will be of a total duration of4working days (including preparation and reporting).

  • 5+ years professional work experience with NGOs in programs and project cycle management related departments, with at least 3 years professional experience implementing and/or training in PCM.
  • Expert knowledge on program and project development in humanitarian NGOs with regards to emergency contexts and refugees/displaced people.
  • Experience and expert knowledge in PCM, fund raising strategies, project cycle, donor relations management.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training of NGOs; experience in developing and delivering training on PCM is preferred.
  • Previous experience in protection program development or implementation in response to the Syrian crisis is desirable.
  • Ability to provide trainings in English and preferably Turkish.

The consultant is responsible for his/her own insurance.

Fixed Price Fee:   

A Fixed Fee of ________ will be paid based on completion and International Medical Corps acceptance of deliverables.

Consultancy work is based in Ankara.

International travel is required.
