Responsibilities:

Do you have excellent communications skills and an innate ability to navigate social media? Do you have a passion for astronomy, space science, and the mission of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)? Do you want to have an impact on the next generation of space scientists, engineers, and explorers? NASA Space Place, the Science Mission Directorate’s primary outreach to youth through online and mobile resources, is seeking a communications coordinator. You will be responsible for maintaining positive relationships with over 600 partner organizations including museums, libraries, planetariums and astronomy clubs, as well as identify, recruit, establish and maintain relationships with prospective partner organizations. You will be able to communicate with the public about NASA Space Place through various social media outlets. You will be a part of a dynamic team creating youth-appropriate activities, games, and stories based on the work of NASA and its partners.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Must be currently enrolled at least half-time at an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Communications, Corporate Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or Technical Writing.
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 12 hours per week while in school.
  • Minimum GPA 3.0.

  • Must keep consistent and accurate records.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
