Dünya Doktorları Derneği, a Turkish non-governmental medical humanitarian organization, governed by the Turkish law, located in Turkey – Ömer Avni Mahallesi İnebolu Sokak No: 67 Set ÜstÜ / 34427 Beyoğlu İstanbul.

Dunya Doktorlari is the Turkish branch of Médecins du Monde, an international humanitarian organization whose mission is to provide medical care for the most vulnerable populations, over the world, including Turkey. It seeks to stimulate voluntary commitment from doctors, other health care providers, and from those whose expertise in other fields is needed for its activities, to enlist all competent support required for the achievement of its projects, and to seek at all times to encourage close working relationships with populations in its care.

  1. Hierarchical & Functional links

Based in Istanbul, the Logistics Assistant reports to the Logistics Administration Officer, and s/he will be directly supervised by:

  • Logistics Administration Officer
  • Logistics Coordinator

S/he will be the technical referent for the following staff:

  • Driver
  • Cleaner
  1. Essential duties


With the support and under supervision of his/her line manager


  1. Purchasing
  • Participate to the local purchasing of goods for the base management, upon instruction of his/her line manager and according to the organization Procurement procedures;
  • Purchase goods ensuring the optimum price/quality ratio on the market;
  • Collecting quotations and checking prices for purchase of goods and services;
  • Ensure that the suppliers fill in all receipts/invoices for local purchases correctly;
  • Ensure the delivery of all purchased items, collects the proof of delivery and proceeds to the validation of the invoices by the Finance team;
  • Keeping and updating all logistic files;
  • In charge of a weekly cash advance: ask the advance to Finance and justify them before the end of the week and/or the end of the month following the organization’s procedures (preforms, invoices, purchases files, contracts…);
  • Do not accept money, loans, credits, gifts, entertainment or commissions from past, present or future suppliers.


  1. Stock
  • Regularly check inventory levels (physical counts);
  • When an order is received: check the number of packages, check packaging and content and inform his/her line manager of any problems (missing or damaged goods, etc.);
  • After receipt, immediately update the stock cards, recording the reference number of the receipt document;
  • Ensure that all items are well organised and correctly stored, well protected, fully identified and easily accessible (cleanliness, security, access, etc.).


  1. Vehicles
  • Ensure the maintenance of the cars: be sure that the drivers realize daily/weekly check and give feedback to the referent of maintenance needs;
  • Assist his/her line manager in the management of activities of drivers for filling the logbook and explain them if there are some mistakes;
  • Fill the vehicle monthly follow-up report;
  • Support his/her line manager to organise movements of car following movements planned and affect the drivers to the movements;


  1. Guest houses and offices
  • Ensure the maintenance and well functioning of the equipment and IT in the whole office & Guest Houses;
  • Support his/her line manager in the rent payments, utilities and facilities management in office and guesthouses;
  • Follow up the repairs when needed: contact the repairers and buy material needed;
  • Ensure proper contracts and invoice payment follow up.


  1. Other duties
  • Assist his/her line manager in proper equipment management (follow-up, reporting…);
  • Participate in internal work meetings and inform the team on log issues;
  • Report any security related issues to his/her line manager;
  • Assist the his/her line manager in reporting requested by Logistic Coordinator;
  • Supporting operational organization of field trips and DDD programs/activities;
  • Maintaining full confidentiality for all work-related information;
  • To perform any additional duties on instruction given by the his/her line manager;
  • Team Management ;

NB: considering the purpose and values of the organization, it requests to its employee complete flexibility in term of duties and commitment, as their job description can be adjusted throughout the year according to needs and priorities.

  1. Expected profile
  • Preference for Turkish citizen, foreigners must have residency permit with 6 months validity;
  • Turkish and English are mandatory (oral and written), Arabic would be a plus;
  • Professional experience in purchasing is an asset;
  • Previous international personal or professional experience would be a plus;
  • Minimum computer skills, particularly with Excel;
  • Strong work ethic and rigor;
  • Strong sense of responsibility;
  • Strong organization skills;
  • Ability to work in a team;
  • Experience working in humanitarian organization is an asset;
