Position: Country Representative

Location: Gaziantep, Turkey with periodical coordination missions to Beirut and other possible travels in the Middle East area.

Line Manager:            General Director and COSV Representative for the Mediterranean and the Middle East


Under the supervision and in collaboration with General Director and COSV Representative for the Mediterranean and the Middle East and in cooperation with the relevant staff members, the incumbent will be responsible of contributing to the development of COSV strategy in the region and in particular in Turkey, and Syria.

Position Profile

  • Contribute to the strategic planning and development of COSV in Turkey and Syria.
  • Strengthening the local presence in Turkey and define strategies for the in-country work and in remote in Northern Syria.
  • Overall responsibility for management of COSV office in Turkey including the overall financial budgeting and expenditures, staff management, administrative issues, security, logistics and other aspects.
  • Supervise the work of the local office in Turkey by strategically assisting relevant staff.
  • Ensure a smoothly coordination between the two offices (Turkey and Lebanon) with particular regards to the work performed in and on Syria.
  • Contribute to the development strategies for communication, regional expansion, fundraising, outreach and organizational development
  • Together with the relevant staff, identify opportunities for new projects and pursue possible donors
  • Contribute to and ensure that project proposals, concept papers and budgets are drafted and submitted on time
  • Develop and maintain close and good collaboration with donors, partners and other stakeholders in both countries
  • Support team members professionally and monitor and support stress management.
  • Maintain good inter-team communications, /dynamics, and take suitable action when problems occur.
  • Ensure appropriate administrative, financial and logistical systems/procedures are maintained and adhered to COSV HQ procedures
  • Ensure that timely narrative and financial reports are provided to the donors in collaboration with relevant staff members and COSV HQs


  • At least 4 years of work experience in a similar position with an international organization;
  • Proven experience with EU-funded projects is mandatory;
  • Previous experience in remote M&E and team management is a strong asset;
  • Strategic capacity to assess risks and needs from a variety of sources;
  • High interpersonal skills with a strong attitude towards problem solving and team work;
  • Background knowledge of the Syrian crisis, field knowledge of the Turkish contexts;
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English; Turkish and/or Arabic is an asset.
